Stacy had a number of severe challenges with her smile. Significant enamel demineralization (discoloration) or “fluorosis” existed from excessive fluoridation as a child. Stacy felt she had a “gummy Smile.” Additionally, Stacy had what is termed “peg laterals,” or abnormally small lateral incisor teeth. Our exam further identified that Stacy’s teeth were overly short. Stacy was about to enter her first year of college and desperately wanted a cosmetic dentistry solution. We utilized a variety of treatment solutions to give Stacy the result she desired. We first performed “enamel microabrasion” to remove a small portion of the surface enamel on some of the teeth. We provided home bleaching trays, which were used for approximately two weeks to provide an overall whitening of the teeth. We utilized a laser soft tissue lift to recontour the gum tissue for a lengthening effect of the front teeth prior to placing 8 Avante Laminate Veneers on the upper teeth. Stacy started her first year at college with a new, more pleasing smile and assures us that she is pleased she made the choice to have her smile improved!
