CEREC 3
Same-Day Restorations
The enormous amount of pressure our teeth endure throughout our lifetime can lead to chips, cracks and fractures. Without proper brushing, flossing, and regular checkups, decay also poses a threat to our teeth. Dental crowns, inlays and onlays, and fillings may be recommended to remedy these common issues. Traditionally, restorations such as crowns required two visits to the dentist over the course of two to three weeks. Today, computer-aided manufacturing technology makes it possible to receive a custom dental crown in a single visit!
Using our in-office CEREC system, our Hellam & York patients can rebuild their smiles faster and more efficiently than ever before. To learn more about CEREC technology schedule an appointment with our cosmetic dental experts today!
How Does CEREC Work?
The CEREC system uses computerized technology to create custom restorations without the need for messy dental impressions. Once the digital imaging of your smile is complete, the information is transmitted to our in-office milling machine. Within a single visit, our cosmetic dentists can treat your tooth, create high-quality, natural-looking crowns and onlays, and place the final restoration. You can then leave our office with a complete, comfortable smile that you will be proud to share. View our before and after dental crowns photo gallery.
A Conservative Approach
The Center for Dental Excellence exercises a conservative approach to restorative dentistry. We believe restorative procedures should incur minimal cost, discomfort, and loss of the natural tooth structure. For this reason, dental onlays may be used as a suitable alternative to dental crowns. Unlike crowns, or caps, which encapsulate the entire treated tooth, onlays cover the biting surface of a tooth. Onlays can greatly reduce the need for excessive removal of tooth thereby preserving more of your healthy tooth structure. CEREC is used to create both crowns and onlays. Our experts can help decide which restoration is best for you during your initial consultation.
Benefits Of In-Office Restorations
CEREC technology offers a wealth of benefits to our patients, including:
- Increased efficiency. You can receive restorations in just one visit to our office.
- Strict adherence to quality. The in-office system allows us to exercise a high degree of control over the quality of your restorations.
- Aesthetically-pleasing results. We select porcelain based on the shade of your existing teeth, so your crowns and onlays blend seamlessly with your smile.
- Durability. Milled porcelain is extremely strong, and with proper care, your restoration can last many years.
- Comfort and ease-of-use. Digital imaging takes fast, clean impressions of the teeth, eliminating the need for messy and uncomfortable impressions.
Our dental crowns not only offer restorative benefits, but may also be recommended for cosmetic applications, like concealing persistent discoloration of teeth, or adding symmetry to misshapen or small teeth.
